Separating books into smaller groups and placing bookends on either side is how to give character to a shelf or table. A different design of bookends can be placed on various shelves spacing one set on the left, one on the right and one in the center of the shelves. Placing other objects on the shelf that complement the design of the bookends will give each shelf its own personality.
